My name is Paola
I'm a Mexican linguist and I love everything about languages: grammar, language evolution, use of language, etc. I'm also a language learner myself.
I studied at the German School Colegio Humboldt my whole life, where I had the opportunity to get close to the German language and culture, which is also part of my heritage from my grandmother on my father's side. I fell in love with the country the very first time I got the chance of visiting it.
I then studied my Bachelor's at Universidad de las Américas Puebla, where I had some of the best moments, making lots of friends and being part of the student council, all the while falling in love with linguistics and loving (almost) every single one of my classes.
I started teaching German as a foreign language to elementary school children in 2016 as an internship. After that I started working at a Universidad Interamericana, where I mainly taught German and English as a foreign language.
Eventually I found a position as a language coach at a Germania Idiomas, a Language School where I taught administrative employees of two companies, college and high school students. I also tutored children who went to the German School, I prepared them for certifications, tests, and provided them with the necessary skills to catch up on their classes involving the German language (including Maths, German and Science).
I then decided to get a Master's degree in German as a Foreign Language, I had been wanting to go back to Germany for years. Since it was a binational program I did half of it in Mexico and half in Germany. I quit most of my jobs to focus on my studies.
While on my last semester, I decided it was time to explore different linguistics fields and got a job as an interpreter, which is currently my main job. Apart from interpreting mainly medical calls with the language pairs English-Spanish, I also occasionally interpret at in-person meetings with the language pairs German-Spanish. I do translation assignments per request (Eng - Esp and Deu - Esp).
I love variety, so At the moment I also have two private students of German as a Foreign Language, and just handed in my master's thesis in the subject of Chat Communication. My thesis made me realize how much I love research.
